Jacqueline Mary Smith died peacefully at her home in
Plymouth, Massachusetts on February 28, 2026. Born to Jack and Ruth Madeline Smith in
Lincoln, Rhode Island on December 19, 1951, Jacqueline attended Lincoln Public Schools and was a 1982 graduate of Roger Williams University with a BS in Health and Social Services. She is survived by her husband, John Wyman, her daughter, Raye Anne Johnson Seiger (Gary) of Stoneham, Massachusetts, her step sons, Chris and Ted Wyman of Dennisport, her brothers, Robert Smith (Elaine) of West Warwick, Rhode Island and Patrick Smith (Lynne) of San Raphael, California, her nephews Chris and Matt Smith and her niece Jennifer Smith, all of California.
After her short career in nursing, Jacqueline began her pursuit of her real passion, real estate, starting with her first job as a property manager for Gilbane Industries in Rhode Island and retiring as an Executive Vice President in the global corporate real estate arm of CB Richard Ellis. She served as President of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. She was a long-time member of the Board of Directors of both Big Sisters and Fenway Health of Boston. Jacqueline immersed herself in fundraisers and special events for both organizations.
Jacqueline did not live life vicariously. Whether it be in business or in her personal life, she was all in and rarely took no for an answer. In business, she was a team builder and an amazing mentor. She was the rare individual who brought out the best in people without degradation or manipulation, choosing instead to foster growth through compassionate counsel. She nurtured her colleagues with a combination of strong business habits mixed with a little bit of fun. On a retreat with her team, she once chartered a sailboat to sail around San Francisco Harbor at sunset, directing each member of her team to step out of the box and take a turn at the helm. Subtly challenging without sermonizing, Jacqueline was the best boss anyone could hope for, and it was reflected in her success and that of her team, always exceeding expectations.
Jacqueline brought the same commitment to her personal life. Raising her daughter Raye when she was barely eighteen, Jacqueline instilled the values of hard work and determination by example. Working multiple jobs while pursuing her education, she made sure her daughter had every opportunity to succeed, and succeed she did. Jacqueline was most proud of the respected, caring and committed person Raye has become. Watching Raye represent Rhode Island at the Miss Teen USA and Miss USA pageants and then walking her down the aisle at her wedding just four years ago was the culmination of these efforts.
Jacqueline showed us all how to live with passion by traveling the world. She marveled at the fact that she visited five of the seven continents of the world and Australia was on her bucket list. She had no interest in Antarctica! She enjoyed India, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Africa, Morocco, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, South America, all places in Europe and most of the fifty US states. Her last trip abroad just two years ago was to London to celebrate Mother's Day with Raye, John and longtime friends. Despite her diminished capacity, she enjoyed herself to the fullest. Jacqueline was competitive at heart, and golf was her game. A longtime member of Plymouth Country Club, her last day playing golf at Plymouth Country club was early last year. Compromised by the progression of her disease, she lined up her second shot and striped it down the middle, albeit, backward in the wrong direction. Realizing what she had done, she simply laughed it off. Humility was never a problem for Jacqueline. She was always ready to volunteer her talents, enjoyed nurturing new friendships and if she was your friend, you had a friend for life.
When John met Jacqueline in the summer of 1991, she forever changed his life with her piercing blue eyes and strong opinion. To put it simply, Jaqueline was vivacious, courageous and unforgettable and will be loved and missed by many.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 10th at 12:30 pm at Faith Community Church, 29 Carver Road in Plymouth. A reception will be held immediately after at Plymouth Country Club, 221 Warren Avenue. All are invited. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Jacqueline's name to either the
Alzheimer's Association or Cranberry Hospice of Plymouth.
