Jacquelyn "Jackie" Martens

Jacquelyn (Jackie) Martens, 72, formerly living in Kinnelon, passed away peacefully on November 3rd.

Jackie was born in Montclair, NJ on December 7, 1952. She grew up in Kinnelon and graduated from DePaul High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Education from Immaculata College in 1974, and subsequently taught Home Economics in high schools for several years. Jackie had numerous interests, but particularly enjoyed knitting, gardening, baking and going for long walks around the Fayson Lakes with her dogs.

Jackie is survived by her son, Derek Bickhart (Sophie) and their children, Jack and Emma and her daughter, Caitlin Brion Monk (Daniel) and her children, Corrado and Luciano. Jackie is also survived by her brothers, Theodore Martens II (Marianne) and Eric Martens (Shelley). Jackie's parents, Theodore and Eileen Martens predeceased her.

For many years Jackie was a parishioner at Our Lady of Magnificat. Services for Jackie include a visitation at Scanlan Funeral Home in Pompton Plains, NJ on Tuesday November 11th from 10AM to 12PM followed by a funeral mass at Our Lady of Magnificat Church in Kinnelon at 12:30PM. The Mass will be live streamed and can be accessed via a live link on the Parish's home page (olmchuch.org). Interment will follow at the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa, NJ.
