Jacquelyn Hope McKenna, affectionately known as "Jackie," passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, in Chandler, Arizona, at the age of 82. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania, Jackie moved to Arizona in 1960 and led a life rooted in service, education, and unwavering kindness—leaving a profound and lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Jackie was a beloved and vibrant presence in the Chandler community. As one of the owners and bookkeepers of Bravino’s Pizza, she transformed the restaurant into a cherished local gathering place, offering not just food, but warmth, connection, and a sense of belonging. Her leadership extended far beyond business; Jackie dedicated much of her life to civic service and community development.

Jackie’s passion for youth empowerment was particularly evident in her instrumental role in founding the Chandler Girls Softball League. Over several decades, she served as President, Secretary, coach, umpire, and mentor—playing an essential part in fostering confidence, teamwork, and opportunity for generations of young athletes.

Education was another cornerstone of Jackie’s life. A proud graduate of Arizona State University, she earned two master’s degrees in education and went on to touch countless lives as an elementary school teacher and reading specialist within the Queen Creek Unified School District. Known for her deep love of students and her joyful, nurturing spirit, Jackie’s influence as an educator continues to live on in the many she taught and inspired.

An accomplished professional, Jackie was honored in the 1979 edition of Outstanding Young Women of America, and later inducted into both the 1988–1989 Who’s Who Among Human Services Professionals and the 1989–1990 Who’s Who in American Education. These recognitions reflect the breadth of her dedication, professionalism, and compassion.

Even in retirement, Jackie remained an active and joyful presence. She delighted in holiday traditions, enjoyed lunches with dear friends, kept up with her monthly trips to the hair salon, and found joy in reading. Jackie also looked forward to her regular trips to Elmer's Tacos, Jack in the Box, and Starbucks, where she treated herself to her favorite snacks. Her generous heart and enduring friendships enriched her life and the lives of others in immeasurable ways.

Jackie is preceded in death by her parents, Sara Maude and Nelson Fleck, and her beloved daughter, Kelly McKenna. She is survived by her brother, Charlie Fleck (Gail); sister, Linda Haugen (Larmon); daughters, Pam Schroeder and Wendy Bonner; and her cherished grandchildren, Colton Bonner and Danica Schroeder.

A funeral Mass to honor Jackie’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, located at 230 West Galveston, Chandler, Arizona 85225. A reception will follow in the church hall.
