Jacquelyn Sorenson Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 30, 2025.
Jacquelyn Elsie Fink (Jackie) was born on November 18, 1936, to Milton and Bernice (nee Krueger) Fink of Tonka Bay, MN. She lived into her eternal life with Jesus on December 24, 2025.

Jackie is survived by her husband Everett Sorenson; brothers Fred Fink, Alan Fink and David Fink; children Dean (Dawn) Sorenson, Jill (Michael) Davis, and Scott (Loree) Sorenson; grandchildren Madelyne (Spencer) Legred-Sorenson, Kristin (Tony) Brown, Ellie Davis Sorenson, Tia Davis, Alex (Addison) Sorenson, Parker (Victoria) Sorenson, Trace Sorenson; great-grandchildren Kora and Ivan Brown, Vivienne, Sophia, & Rosalie Sorenson and Rhylan Sorenson. Her grandchildren used the phrase "here, have some more" to describe the spirit of love, generosity and giving that she lived for her entire lifetime.

Jackie graduated from Minnetonka High School and attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. She studied music and graduated with a teaching degree. One night at St. Olaf Jackie found herself on a double date, and by the end of the evening, realized that she had much more in common with the other gentleman, rather than her own companion. Everett Sorenson and Jacquelyn Fink were married on June 21, 1958, and held fast to the commitment 'til death do us part.

Jackie loved music of all kinds. She taught music in West Concord, MN when she and Everett first graduated from St. Olaf. After moving to Anoka, MN she continued to teach piano lessons in her home. She also sang in the choir at Zion Lutheran Church. Jackie enjoyed concerts of the Minnesota Orchestra and, of course, attended all musical events that her children were involved in. She had a beautiful voice, had perfect pitch, and accompanied many impromptu sing-a-longs in the basement of her Anoka home. She also played piano in the Sorenson family ensemble at holiday time. Jackie not only passed her love of music on to her children but also the countless students that studied with her over the years.

Jackie loved books and writing of all kinds. In the evening when the family would be sitting in front of the TV, she would be reading the latest mystery, romance, or other story. Her love of reading and books was an inspiration to all those around her. She made certain that she read early and often to all her children.

Jackie was a wonderful hostess and cook and this was definitely her language of love. She prepared wonderful meals for family and friends, and no one ever left hungry. Later in life, she made sure to bake the grandchildren's favorite cookies when they visited.

Above all, Jackie will be remembered for her quiet but strong personality. Her faith guided her through all aspects of her life. When her children brought concerns to her, she would gently remind them to pray. Her family will continue the faith, modeled by her.

Jackie's Celebration of Life service will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Zion Lutheran Church located at 1601 S. 4th Avenue, Anoka, MN. 55303. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 am, service at 11:00, followed by lunch in the Fellowship Hall.

Jill and Mike, so sorry for your loss of this wonderful lady! May God hold you tightly in his embrace and send peace your way. She sounds like a wonderful lady that was very strong in her faith and has passed that on to her daughter.!

With deep sympathy and in loving memory of Jackie (a first cousin of mine in the Krueger Family) goes out to you Ev; brothers Fred, Alan & David; children Dean, Jill & Scott and all your precious families. The last time I saw Jackie was at Rosemary's funeral in 2018. I have fond memories of Jackie - she was always so sweet & smart and kind to all.
My Dad, Robert E. Krueger was Jackie's Uncle. He and Mom (Gloria) would always bring us to the Tonka Bay Family gatherings (1958 is my earliest recollection) - New Year's and 4th of July Celebration picnics. Family is so precious. We'll all gather again in the "sweet bye and bye".
I've attached a few photos from my collection - one is of the Fred & Alvina Krueger Family 1958 with Jackie's Mom Bernice pictured.
God Bless you all and comfort you in the days ahead.
Love,
Nan Krueger
