In Loving Memory of Jamere Meonte Tyson
Jamere Meonte Tyson graced the world stage with a versatile repertoire of roles throughout his life's vibrant narrative. As a cherished son, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin, friend, educator, athlete, security officer, welder, and music enthusiast, he left an indelible mark in every role he embraced.
Born on March 22, 1980, Jamere began his journey as the beloved eldest son of Carolyn Hicks Tyson of
Sewell, NJ, and Angela L. Tyson of Atlanta, GA. After spending his formative years in Atlanta, he relocated to South Jersey with his mother and brothers in 1989. Surrounded by his devoted family, Jamere peacefully departed from this world on Sunday morning, December 10, 2023, at the age of 43.
Jamere's educational journey led him through Loring Fleming Elementary School and C.W. Lewis Middle School in Gloucester Township, NJ. He proudly graduated from Highland Regional High School in 1998 and later pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications at Jersey City University, graduating in 2004.
Outside of his work, Jamere embraced his competitive nature through a range of sports. He actively participated in baseball, football, wrestling, track and field, leaving his mark with sheer determination and a fiery spirit on every field and track he conquered. Musically, Jamere was a lyrical genius and never backed down from a free style battle. He had a way of painting a picture with his words and loved to write songs and record music alongside various artists and DJs.
A compassionate social worker, Jamere dedicated himself to noble causes, serving with the Volunteers of America in Philadelphia as a case worker from 2021 to 2023. His passion for nurturing young minds led him to serve as a substitute teacher at Highland Regional High School in Gloucester Township and as a football coach at Timber Creek High School in Gloucester Township. Additionally, Jamere applied his skills as a welder at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, showcasing his diverse talents.
With a profound faith, Jamere embraced Jesus as his savior at an early age and was baptized at Bethany Baptist Church in Lindenwold. His spirit was characterized by compassion, warmth, joy, an infectious sense of humor, and an open-hearted nature that effortlessly fostered connections and offered unwavering support to those in need.
Jamere's legacy lives on through the love he shared and the lives he touched. He was predeceased by his younger brother, Brent Tyson, and is survived by his devoted mother, Carolyn Hicks-Tyson of
Sewell, NJ; his father, Angela L. Tyson of Atlanta, GA; his brother, Nicholas (Dr. Aaliyah) Tyson of
Burlington, NJ; aunts: Dr. Constantine Hicks-Evans of
