James Joseph Alexander Jr. of Holly, MI passed away on May 3, 2025 at the age of 70. Jim was born in Flint, MI to the late James and Martha Alexander. He was married to his high school sweetheart Cindy Smalley-Alexander for 43 years prior to his passing. Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather (Bumpy). He leaves behind his wife Cindy Smalley-Alexander, daughters Cara (Eric) Dovre and Emma Alexander, grandchildren Nora and Lincoln Dovre, sister Shirley (Ron) Brendel, brother Bruce (Kim) Alexander, brother-in-law Dennis (Renee) Smalley, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim retired from General Motors in 2018 after a 30+ year career at the proving grounds, which he was very proud of! He loved the outdoors, whether that be on the golf course, sitting in his deer blind the woods, or enjoying a campfire at the Higgins Lake cabin. Jim was a member of Holly Moose Lodge the Holly Kiwanis Club, and often volunteered his time in the community. He was a passionate Michigan State fan, and loved all of the professional Detroit sports teams. Jim was also a super fan of his family's sports activities. He traveled near and far to all of Emma's college golf tournaments, and rarely ever missed Lincoln's football or basketball games, or Nora's cheer competitions. Jim was always 100% behind his family and everything that they were involved in.
To know Jim was to know what the human version of Joy is. He could light up a room with his smile and his contagiously positive personality. He truly made everyone who knew him better and he will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and the entire community of Holly.
Jim will be laid to rest at Lakeside Cemetery in Holly on May 10, 2025. The visitation will be at the Dryer Funeral Home in Holly from 2pm-8pm on May 9, 2025. The funeral service will be held May 10, 2025 at Dryer Funeral Home in Holly at 11AM, with luncheon to follow at the Holly Calvary Church. Memorial donations can be made in Jim's honor to the Michigan Humane Society. www.dryerfuneralhomeholly.com
