Mr. James Allphin, 55, of Aiken, SC, affectionately known as "Jimmy the Junkman", husband of Shelly Lee Altemose-Allphin, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.
Born in Covington, KY, and a resident of Aiken County, SC, for most of his life, he was the son of the late James F. Allphin and the late Linda Sheriff Stidham.
Jimmy's career path took him in many directions. Prosser's Septic Tank Service formerly employed him for many years. However, "Jimmy the Junkman" was happiest when he was scrapping and turning other people's junk into his treasure.
To know Jimmy was to love Jimmy. He kept his circle small. However, if you had a friend in Jimmy, you had a true friend.
Jimmy enjoyed trips to Myrtle Beach, where he loved to fly kites. Once, he flew a kite so high that he stopped all air traffic in the area. True story. Shelly has a video to prove it! He also enjoyed playing cards, shooting pool, fishing, shrimping, and, of course, Harley-Davidsons. Nothing made him any happier than spending time with his family, especially his grands and his cat, Sky.
In addition to his wife Shelly, Jimmy is survived by sons, James "Little Jimmy" (Megan) Allphin, Jr. and Timothy Clayton (Whitni) Pennington, daughters, Julie (Mike) Prosser, Ashley Altemose and Amber (Steven) Galloway, siblings, Christina (the late Calvin) Setters, Phyllis Setters, Katherine (Junior) Kappes and Samuel Setters, grandchildren, Kerrick Allphin, Leilan Pennington, Laikyn Pennington, Alaina Pennington, Bryson Pennington, Timothy Pennington, Carson Prosser, Landon Bohler and Iris Bellue, a stepson from a previous marriage, Daniel, eighteen nieces and nephews, all of whom Jimmy loved.
.
Also preceding him in death were a son, affectionately known as "Baby Duck," brother Robert (Debbie) King, and nephew Michael Setters.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Jimmy was always concerned about the welfare of less fortunate children. Therefore, memories of Jimmy may be given to Helping Hands. (www.helpinghands.org)
