James Sharon Averyt, passed away at the age of 82 on Sunday, June 16, 2024 in Midwest City, OK.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 10:00 am at Candlewood Chapel with Pastor Dick Temple officiating, burial will follow at Arlington Memory Gardens. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Ford Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 pm.
James was born on January 11, 1942 in Walters, OK to James Wilbur Averyt and Arlie Irene (Taylor) Averyt. He graduated from Midwest City High School in 1960.
James was a devout member of Bethel Church Choctaw and loved attending the services and visiting with his brothers and sisters in Christ. He also loved technology, especially photography and cinematography. When looking for pictures there were so many missing him because he was the one behind the camera! He was fidgety and would always be doing something with his hands. Whether that was tinkering with tech or jingling the change in his pocket.
James is survived by step daughter Sherry Laina (Cottet) Oliver and husband James Alan Oliver, step daughter Donna Jean (Arnold) Hudson and husband David Michael Hudson and their children, step daughter Elizabeth Lynn (Arnold) Coley and husband William Eugene Coley and their children, nephew James Carl Schultz, niece Tracie Dawn (Short) Cherry, husband Christopher James Cherry and their daughter Karsyn Cherry, niece Deborah Ralphine Harrison, daughters Camille (Harrison) Dumoit and Mellisa (Harrison) Miller and her children, and nephew Ryan Harrison and niece Rachel (Harrison) Thornton and her children, and countless brothers and sisters in Christ!
James is preceded in death by his parents, James Wilbur Averyt and Arlie Irene (Taylor) Averyt, brothers, Billy Joe Louis Harrison and wife Ralphine (Elliot) Harrison and son's Steven Joe Harrison and Ricky Joe Harrison, brother Kenneth Dale Averyt, and sister Lahoma Irene (Averyt) Short Schultz and husband Emmitt Howard Schultz, and wife Barbara Ann (Cottet) Averyt, wife Juanita (Holley) Cottet Averyt, and Rachel Paulette Arnold and countless brothers and sisters in Christ!
