Comedian M. Owens
August 29, 2024
Hello, I am Comedian Margaret Owens . I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Barnes. I have known him for at least 30 years. He used to drive the Headstart bus when my children were younger. He always encouraged my kids, especially my son. He was a great role model to many and at a young age of four my son said that he wants to buy Mr. Barnes a suit. At the time we didn´t have much so I told him we could buy him a shirt and we did. I did not find out about his passing until yesterday. I´m so sorry I Wasn´t able to attend the service. I pray God continues to comfort the family. Just know that God will not put no more on you than you can bare. Hold onto God, the memories of your loved one and you family. that alone will see you through theses trying times. God bless y´all.

My condolences to his family and friends. May God grant you peace and comfort you in the days ahead. I worked with Mr. James Barnes (JB) for many years at JLHCA Head Start. He was a one of a kind man. We had a lot of good times on the bus to pick up/drop off the children as well as many talks while riding the roads within the county in regards to transportation for the vehicles. He was often seen wanting to share God´s word with others when allowed. One of my favorite memories of him was when the office staff went to the Meadow Village Grill to celebrate and the two of us decided who could eat more food that day. Unfortunately I don´t remember who won.

My Deepest sympathy goes out to Aunt Peggy, Reginald and Ralph.
Whenever I would see my Uncle James, he always had uplifting words of encouragement. Every time we would speak he would remind me that all of us boys have done well: Reginald, Ralph, Chris and me, (1st Cousins).
"I'm proud of you boys, keep striving to be all you can, you are covered and have favor. Give God the praise & glory and acknowledge the lord in everything you do and you will continue to be blessed".
I didn't get to see him often but when I could, I did. He will be missed by us all.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Barnes family and friends He will truly be missed especially his booming laugh and his voice raised in song. We worked together at Johnston-Lee- Harnett Community Action for many years. He would come down the hall singing and praising the Lord The Head Start children and staff loved him which was evident when you walked into the cafeteria and saw the mural of him on the wall. The mural depicted him in his straw hat, bibbed overall and big smile!! Rest on my friend
