James Beringer Jr. "Jim," a devoted father and grandfather passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025 at the age of 69. Jim deeply cared about his family, ensuring that his children had all they needed and hosting "Camp Grandpa" fun at his house anytime his grandsons came to visit. He was getting excited to be able to take flying trips to see his daughter Tiffany at college this fall. He loved to tell a good story and share goofy anecdotes to make his family and friends smile.
Jim was born in Akron, OH in 1955. He graduated from Hoban High School in 1974, attended Akron University, and went on to successfully run his family business, Beringer Plating, enjoying having his daughter Renee working alongside him.
Jim enjoyed many hobbies. In his younger years, he kept active by enjoying the adventure of skiing and running countless races and marathons. He enjoyed scooter rides, fishing off his dock, spending time on the lake, tinkering with and rebuilding electronics such as antique radios and motorcycles, and spending time in nature. The hobby that stood out most to those who knew him was his lifelong love of aviation. He loved to fly and generously shared that passion with others. One of his life's highlights was building a T-51 Mustang airplane with his father and then being able to fly that airplane.
Jim quietly cared for those around him, volunteering at a local food bank. He also served on his neighborhood tree-planting committee, leaving the legacy of natural beauty for future residents.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Beringer Sr. and Betty Beringer. He is survived by his brothers David (Colette), Edward, and Michael as well as by his children, Alan (Katy), Renee, and Tiffany, and his grandsons, Jonah, Elim, and Luke.
Jim will be greatly missed and although we wish he was still on Earth, his family finds comfort knowing that he is soaring in the heavens above, continuing his journey in the skies he so loved.
Funeral services will be held at Hummel Funeral home 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, OH 44321 on Monday, March 10, 2025. Visitation will be from 12pm-2pm, followed by a service at 2pm.
