November 19, 1943 – August 5, 2025
James Edward Boofter, 81, passed away on August 5, 2025, in El Paso, Texas. Born November 19, 1943, in Des Moines, Idaho, James lived a life defined by service, family, and a love for sports.
He proudly served 24 years in the United States Army, ending his career at the Sergeants Major Academy. After retiring from the military, he continued to inspire others as a teacher at Park University.
James is survived by his partner, Donna Zumwalt; his son, Dave; his daughters, Barbie and Jenny; his sister Penny 8 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He found joy in cheering on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the New York Yankees, and the Duke Blue Devils, always watching with passion and pride.
Shortly before his passing, James shared these words: “Life has to come to an end, but it’s all about the journey, and I have lived a good life.” It was a reflection of the way he lived — with purpose, gratitude, and love.
A funeral service with military honors will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Grave side services will be private to the family and a few close friends. James will be remembered for his dedication, humor, and the love he gave so freely to his family and friends.
