James E. Brady, 86, of Greensburg, PA, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025, at his home.
Born July 5, 1939, in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late John (Minnie) Brady and Ruth (Snell) Brady.
Jim was a 1957 graduate of Uniontown High School, where he played basketball. He served in the U.S. Army before beginning a distinguished career in finance for more than 55 years. For more than 25 years, he worked with Merrill Lynch, ultimately serving as Branch Manager and Vice President. After retiring from Merrill Lynch, he continued sharing his expertise as a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley for another 20 years. His career afforded him many travel opportunities, and he especially enjoyed visiting Hilton Head Island, SC, several times a year, as well as living for a time in Vero Beach, FL. A lifelong horse enthusiast, Jim grew up on his grandfather's farm and developed a love for Arabian horses. He loved spending time at the barn with his daughter, Candice, caring for their horses and watching her compete. His favorite horse during these years was "Nibbles." Jim was an avid golfer, a former member of both the Latrobe Country Club and Ligonier Country Club and enjoyed bird hunting and time at the hunting cabin with his brother and friends. He was also an avid reader who especially enjoyed works of history. He was a devoted sports fan, especially of college basketball's March Madness and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also cherished his pets, Bailey and Smokey, who were faithful companions for many years.
He is survived by his daughter, Candice J. Brady of Jefferson Hills; his son, Scott Brady (Carrie) of Pittsburgh; and five grandchildren-Aidan, Colin, Liam, Drew, and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John "Jack" Brady.
In accordance with his wishes, there will be no public visitation or services. Arrangements are entrusted to Lopatich-Brinker Funeral Home, LLC, 601 Weldon Street, Latrobe.
