James Gordon Bridgeland

James Gordon Bridgeland, 95, of Winnebago, died Sunday, April 6, 2025, in Byron, IL. Born February 21, 1930, in Rockford, the son of William and Helen (MacGregor) Bridgeland. He graduated from Byron High School, and the University of Illinois in 1954 with a Bachelor's in Agriculture. Jim married Marianne Fisher on June 13, 1954, in Champaign, she predeceased him January 8, 2008. He served his country in the Army Signal Corps. from 1954 to 1956. Jim was an active member of Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, Trustee, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. He served as secretary/treasurer for The Middle Creek Cemetery Board and the Vice Chairman of The Winnebago Soil Water Conservation District Board. Jim also served on the Winnebago Farm Service Board, PCA Blackhawk Board, and WINN Pork Producers Board.
Jim is lovingly survived by his children, Chuck (Cheryl) Bridgeland of Freeport, Janet (Tom) Frawley of Rockford, Martha Jean Bridgeland of Rockford, Tom (Mitsuko) Bridgeland of Byron and Ken Bridgeland of Winnebago; grandchildren, Jennifer (Troy Montgomery) Bridgeland, Katie (Spencer) Charpentier, Hannah (Brandon) Lamm, Sam Bridgeland, Mary (Jesse) Shock, Aya Bridgeland, and Rhea Bridgeland; great grandchildren include, Maurice Montgomery, Lizzie, Elowen, Griffin, and Farren Lamm, and Aubri Bridgeland. Siblings include, William Bridgeland, Robert Bridgeland, Jean Oliphant, and Richard Bridgeland and special friend, Marie Hopkins.
Jim was also predeceased by his parents, grandsons Dan Bridgeland and David Bridgeland, his brother Paul Bridgeland, and sister Carol Strouse.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, April 19, 2025, in Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, 12473 Montague Road, Winnebago with visitation from 10:00 to 10:45 am. prior to the service. Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Memorials may be made to Middle Creek Presbyterian Church, 12473 Montague Rd, Winnebago, IL 61088. At Jim's request, cremation rites were accorded.
