James Bryant Obituary

Cochran - Mr. James "J.R." Bryant, age 81, died Sunday, June 19, 2022, at Regency Hospital in Macon. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 11:00 AM in Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church in Cochran. Burial will be private in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pastor Doug Studdard will be officiating. The family will greet friends following the service Wednesday in the church. Mr. Bryant will be lying in state at the church from 10:oo A.M. until the time of the service Wednesday.
He was the son of the late Robert Alton "Doc" Bryant and Vera McDaniel Bryant, J.R. was born February 18, 1941 in Bleckley County Georgia. He attended Cochran schools and was a member of the 1960 class. After high school he worked as the shipping supervisor for L&H Shirt Company in Cochran and was the owner of Bryant Seafood. J.R. was a past member and president of the Cochran Jaycees, and a member of Empire Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeynelle Churchwell Bryant; son, Boyd Bryant and brother, Wilbur Bryant.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Lisa Johnson "Jerry" and Shelby Gordon "Joel" both live at lake Sinclair; grandchildren, Michelle Hartka of New York, Tiffany Robertson of Warner Robins and Zack Bryant; great-grandson, Joseph Hartka; half brother, Jerry Bryant of Macon; nephews, Jamie and Chris Bryant; a special friend, Carolyn Patterson of Gordon.
