James Clifton Fowler, 92, passed away on February 27, 2024. He remained active in his accounting and Mergers and Acquisitions business until 2021. He was a wonderful caregiver to Barbara during these last couple years. He missed her very much since her death last year. Jim passed peacefully at Evergreen Community of Johnson County.
Barbara Wilson Fowler, 90, passed away on October 31, 2023. In her later years, Barbara avidly followed her beloved Royals and KU Jayhawks. She passed peacefully at Evergreen Community of Johnson County.
Jim was born in Polo, MO the only child to Charles Clifton and Sylvia Fowler. He grew up playing basketball, softball and served as yearbook editor at his high school. He attended Central Missouri State (UCM) and graduated with a degree in accounting. Jim served in the Army and was stationed in Okinawa for 3 years. He received his master's degree from the University of Denver. Shortly thereafter, he passed the CPA exam. He started his career at Arthur Anderson and eventually founded R&D Services, a mergers and acquisitions company.
Barbara was Born in Holton, KS to Helen McBride Wilson and Claude Wilson. She attended Central High School where she participated in various clubs. While a student at Central Missouri State, she met Jim. They were married, August 27, 1953. Last August, Jim and Barbara celebrated their 70 wedding anniversary with family and friends.
Jim & Barbara always supported their children, whether coaching a sports team or in the PTA. They were active members at Covenant Chapel, often helping bring meals to new moms or those in need. They were part of the Communion team and loved participating with their "Empty Nesters" Bible study group. They loved attending their grandchildren's activities and cherished every video of their great grandchildren's growth.
Jim & Barbara leave behind their daughter, Victoria Eaton (Kent) and son, Stephen Fowler (Jackie) and 5 grandchildren: Stephen (Marcela), Luke (Natalie) and Matthew (Jessica) Eaton, and Andrew (Ali) and Meghan Fowler. They were additionally blessed with 3 great grandchildren: Connor, Audrey and Paige Eaton.
A memorial service for Jim and Barbara will be held at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 13300 Kenneth Road, Leawood, KS on Friday, March 15, at 2 PM.
