James Vincent Caminiti, age 79 of Caseyville, IL, born July 30, 1945, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
James graduated from Collinsville High School, Class of 1964. He honorably served in the United States Marines from 1965 to 1967 during Vietnam. He retired from Laborer's Union Local 44, having been a member for 60 years and serving as President for 30 years.
He was a member of the Shriners Hospital, Goldwing Road Riders Association Chapter O, National Wild Turkey Federation, Silver and Shoal Creek Strutters, and National Rifle Association. He was an avid hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bernadine (nee Wasser) Caminiti; a grandson, Craig Caminiti; and two brothers: Dennis and John Caminiti.
Surviving is his wife, Gail (nee Daab) Caminiti, whom he married September 4, 1965; two sons: Paul (Anna) Caminiti and Michael Caminiti; two grandsons: Nathan and Caleb Caminiti; a brother, Frank (Mary) Caminiti; a sister, Mary Caminiti; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Caminiti and Mary Caminiti; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025, and 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with Pastor Sherman Smith officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and Shriner's Hospital for Children. They will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
