James Darrell "Jim" Carpenter

James 'Jim' Darrell Carpenter, 59, of West Salem, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 13, 2025. Jim was born on January 11, 1966, in Medina, Ohio, the son of the late Willard 'Jimmy' J. and Karen Sue Carpenter.

Above all else, Jim cherished his family. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who found his greatest joy in time spent with those he loved. Whether sharing stories, laughter, or quiet moments together, family always came first.

Jim was especially known for his lifelong, unwavering devotion to his beloved wife, Marsha Lynn Carpenter. Their bond was one of deep love, loyalty, and commitment. Jim and Marsha shared 27 years together, building a life centered on family, mutual respect, and enduring companionship. Even after Marsha's passing in 2017, Jim carried her love with his always. He spoke of her often, honored her memory daily, and looked forward to the day they would be reunited. Their story remained the foundation of his life.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Whenever he had the opportunity to visit the ocean, he delighted in collecting seashells, finding peace and beauty in nature. He was also deeply patriotic and proud of his country. He wanted to see "America Great Again".

He is survived by his children, Mary Jackson and Samuel 'Westly' Cutlip, Jr.; grandchildren, Jeremiah Neal, Shanissa Neal, Daylon Cutlip and Kane Cutlip; great-grandchildren, Isaiah Neal, Zendaya Emelia – Grace Roberts, Caden Neal, and Gabriella Marie Blakely; siblings, Kathrin Carpenter, twin brother, John Carpenter, and Kristine 'Sissy' (Rob) Bowersock; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 11 am – 1 pm at Waite Funeral Home: 765 N. Court Street, Medina, OH, 44256, with a funeral service at 1 pm.
