Vernon graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and went on to work for General Shale for a number of years before opening his own consulting business which took him to several states and other countries over the years. During retirement Vernon enjoyed rebuilding and tinkering with computers and the company of his Great Pyrenees dogs Bodie & Addie. Over the last few years of his life he was very grateful for his daughter Brooke Christian, who was his full time caregiver.
James Vernon Christian was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Ann" Pearson Christian; and his parents, Dennis Edward Christian Sr and Cora Robbins Christian.
He is survived by his daughters, Heather Christian Sumners (Shane), and Brooke Christian; brother, Edward 'Ed' Christian; grandchildren, Sydney Sumners Harrod (Turner) and Chase Sumners; niece, Tonya Christian Bolden (Joey); nephew, Jake Jerome Christian (Heather); and several great nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private ceremony as requested. Donations in his memory may be made to the Hawkins County Humane Society.
