Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ames Monument & Cremation Center on Jul. 9, 2025.
James Francis Christopher, lovingly known to many as JC or Jimmy, passed away surrounded by his loved ones. Born on April 3, 1948, in Oak Park, Illinois, Jim was the son of James Francis Christopher Sr. and Mary Eileen Christopher.
He grew up in a lively home with his older sister Carol and brothers Timmy, Tommy, and Joey.
From a young age, Jimmy had an unmatched work ethic and a relentless drive. He could always be found fixing, building, or tinkering-usually with grease on his hands and an ornery smile on his face. That passion for engines and hard work led him to open J&J Transmission Shop in the early 1970s, where he built a reputation for not only being skilled but also trustworthy and dependable. In 2001, he expanded his ventures by becoming part-owner of Wildfire Harley-Davidson, blending his love for motorcycles with his entrepreneurial spirit through 2007. In 2008, Jimmy and his wife Debbie made Boone, lowa, their home after purchasing Cedar Pointe Golf Course, where he poured his energy into improving and maintaining the grounds.
Both Jimmy and Debbie shared a love for adventure and the open road, often taking off on cross-country motorcycle trips with friends. Whether they were exploring new places or revisiting favorite stops, those trips left them with amazing stories, and unforgettable memories.
Jimmy was the proud father of six children-Jamie, Michael, Danielle, Kara, Corey, and Angela. He adored his grandchildren, who lovingly called him Papa Jimmy or Pops, and he never missed a chance to crack a joke or teach them something valuable-often from the seat of a golf cart or inside of his shop.
A lifelong gearhead, Jimmy had a knack for bringing anything with wheels or an engine back to life. Whether it was a classic car, snowmobile, motorcycle, or golf cart-if it had a motor, he could fix it. His shop was his sanctuary.
Jimmy was more than a hard worker-he was a loyal friend, a straight shooter, and someone who always showed up when you needed him. His childhood best friend, Tommy Raines (Winnie), remained like a brother to him throughout his life-a bond that never wavered.
Jimmy will be remembered for his big heart, strong hands, and unforgettable sense of humor. He lived fully, worked tirelessly, and loved deeply. His legacy lives on in the roar of engines and in the lives he touched with his grit, generosity, and unwavering love. He will be deeply missed.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James Francis Sr. and Mary Eileen Christopher, his sister Carol, and brothers Timmy and Tommy. He is survived by his beloved wife Debbie, his six children, ten grandchildren, his brother
Joey (Rita), many nieces and nephews, and his extended family of friends.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 12:00 PM-5:00 PM at Bucaro Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 485 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale, IL, 60108.
