James "Jim" Patrick Clift, 76, of Springville, Utah, passed away on July 12, 2025, at Utah Valley Hospital following a long and courageous battle with several health challenges.
Jim was born on November 1, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Melvin Clift and Marilyn Ellertson Clift. He spent his early adult years in California before returning to Utah, where he raised his three children from a young age.
A hardworking and dedicated man, Jim worked in the construction industry until a job-related back injury required surgery and changed the course of his career. After recovering, he began working in the kitchen at the Utah State Mental Hospital, where he was later promoted to the position of purchasing agent. He faithfully served there for 25 years until his retirement.
Jim had a deep love for the outdoors-camping and boating were among his favorite pastimes. He was also a devoted animal lover, especially fond of dogs, whom he treated as members of the family.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi Clift; his daughter, Shanna (JR) Gregory; his son, Kerry James Clift; and his stepchildren, Jason Vaughan, Jerry Vaughan, and Eddie Vaughan. His sisters Sandy Egbert and Donna Willcut. He also leaves behind many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Clift and Marilyn Clift; his son, Keven Clayton Clift; and his brothers, Mike Clift and Bryce Clift.
Jim will be remembered for his resilience, generosity, and the love he gave to his family, friends, and four-legged companions. He will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Premier Funeral Services, located at 1160 North 1200 West, Orem, Utah, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A graveside gathering will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the Historic Springville City Cemetery, 488 South 170 West, Springville, Utah.
