James Manuel Cordero, 79, of Harrisburg, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury.

Jim was born January 9, 1945, in Richmond, Kentucky, to the late Manuel Cordero and the late Nannie Elizabeth Edwards Cordero. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Carrie Elizabeth Cordero, and step-son, Rick Bolin.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Frances Cordero of Harrisburg, NC; son, Aaron Cordero (fiancée, Meredith Hatley) of Lexington, SC; grandsons, Jacob Cordero of Lexington, SC, and Daniel Clinkinbeard of Georgetown, KY.

After graduating Henry Clay High School in Lexington, KY, Jim attended the University of Kentucky and Jim went to work for IBM. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and returned to work for IBM. He retired from IBM with 30 years of service and then worked for Southeastern Packaging for more than 15 years before finally retiring.

Jim was a man’s man. He enjoyed Chuck Norris and Clint Eastwood movies. While he loved his shows, none could top his beloved Kentucky Wildcats and love of his Boston Terriers.

Jim was private man, but those who knew him loved his sense of humor. He was always trying to make someone laugh. Whether it was work, games or events, he always showed up. Everyone knew they could count on him, especially his family. He will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg. A graveside service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at 11:45 am at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC, officiated by Chaplain Matthew Storie.
