Visit the Horan & McConaty Funeral Service & Cremation - North Metro/Thornton website to view the full obituary.

James Earl Cornett was born on December 17th, 1935 in Plymouth New Haven Township Ohio to Jesse James and Lyda (Cole) Cornett and passed on August 13th, 2025 at the age of 89 in Northglenn Colorado, 126 days before his 90th birthday.

He served a combined 30 years in the Air National Guard, primarily as a machinist, ending at Buckley Airforce Base in Aurora, Colorado as a Master Sargent. Prior to his military service, Jim worked in many industries: He owned and operated a gas station, sold insurance, worked as an Omar Bread Man, and heavy machining in the private sector for many years.

After meeting and marrying the love of his life Nancy in 1959 and having four children, the family moved to Colorado in 1972, to better care for his daughter’s asthma. An avid sportsman and automotive enthusiast, he was always a crack shot, loved to fish, and spent many days at his beloved shooting range with his best friend Bob. He owned and worked on many Mustangs, Camaros, trucks, and an assortment of Dodge vehicles. Jim loved to read, having read all of Louis L'Amour’s westerns.

He was proceeded by his mother and father, his brother Rebel, brother-in-law Irwin, his daughter Pamela, and son James (Allen).

He is survived by his wife Nancy, his sons Jeffery (Laura) and Timothy (Elise), his sister Wilma, grandchildren Susan, Brendon, and Trevor, and great grandchildren Darian and Natalia, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at Horan and McConaty - 9998 Grant St. Thornton Co 80229, September 19th 2025 at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, cards and letters are much appreciated.
