It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Lynn Crandall, Jr. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the age of 72.
He was a devoted husband to Sandy, a loving and supportive father, and cherished grandfather. Jim passed away with his family by his side after a long period of declining health.
Jim was born on September 19, 1952, in Canton, Ohio to James L. Sr. and Frances L. (Manuel) Crandall. He graduated from Park School in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1970 and Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio in 1974 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science.
He married Sandra Lynn Patalon on July 30, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She survives.
Jim was a car enthusiast and proudly sold Fords for over 30 years before retiring in March of 2020. Jim genuinely cared about his customers and took a personal interest in their lives. He truly enjoyed helping people make the right choice for their family.
After retiring, he and Sandy stayed in Daytona Beach during the winters. Jim loved flea markets, car shows, long walks on the beach, and spending time with a wonderful group of friends. In Ohio, Jim loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching them play sports.
Jim had a unique relationship with everyone he knew, a great sense of humor, and countless inside jokes. His favorite hobbies included attending car shows, sporting events, live music, and buying and selling golf clubs. Jim could usually be found on the College of Wooster golf course.
He was a fan of the Florida Gators, Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Reds, and his grandson's high school basketball team, the New Philadelphia Quakers.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife, Sandy, are his children, James (Jennifer) Crandall of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Kelly (Steve) Light of Geneva, Ohio, Margaret Pang of Lubbock, Texas, Ron (Andrea) Bartosch of Columbus, Ohio, and Amelia Bartosch of Seville, Ohio, grandchildren, Carson, Cayden, Troy, Taryn, Grace, Will, Kate, Theo, and Paisley; and sister, Caryn (James) Thierbach of Mason, Ohio.
Memorial services will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, 3:00 pm at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home with Chaplain Ray Pfahler officiating.
Visitation for family and friends will be 2 hours prior (1:00 pm - 3:00 pm) to memorial services on Saturday at the funeral home.
