James "J.C." Calvin Curtis, age 86, of Estill Springs, Tenn., departed this life on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton Hospital following an extended illness. Mr. Curtis was born in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Will Thomas Curtis and Sara Sutherland Curtis. He was employed for 30+ years at A&F Irrigation Company as a heavy equipment operator. He later was hired by Johnny Evans Lumber Company and worked for this business several years before he retired from there. He attended the Estill Springs Nazarene Church. Mr. Curtis was a 50 plus year member of the Estill Springs Masonic Lodge. He was also a member of the Shriner's. He could often be found reading westerns or watching them on T.V. Most of all he loved his grandkids and spending time with them. He was a very humorous man that gave his friends all "nicknames". He will be dearly remembered as a Christian man, a hard worker and most importantly, as a friend to all.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by his wife, Charlene, daughter-in-law, Kim Curtis, son, Tim Curtis and granddaughter, Lacey Curtis.

He is survived by his son, Mark Curtis, daughter, Susan Curtis, both of Estill Springs, Tenn. Sister, Patricia (Troy) Lane of Pelham, Grandchildren; Will (Sara)Curtis of Estill Springs, Kristen Payne of Cowan, Ashley Curtis of Melbourne, Australia, 4-great-grandchildren; Anthony Curtis, Emberley Payne, Arya Payne and Drake Curtis.

Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 25, 2025, in the Chapel of Grant Funeral Services, LLC, with Pastor Tim Parsons, officiating with Masonic Rites bestowed.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. on Thursday prior to services at 1:00.

Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens in Winchester with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff on the 2nd and 3rd floors at Vanderbilt Tullahoma Harton Hospital for the compassionate and loving care Mr. Curtis received.
