Rev. James Aaron Dye, Sr., age 79, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2025, surrounded by his family at his home in
Richlands, Virginia.
Born in 1946 in Red Ash, James was the son of the late Adolphus Morgan Dye, Sr., and Mary Bell Ball Dye. James was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. His infectious smile was his trademark. His journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. He was an example of Christ in word and deed. He truly fought a good fight and has gone to get his reward. When he took his leave from this earth, he did so in the same way that he had always walked among us, with grace. We may grieve our temporary earthly separation from him. However, we will still rejoice that he is safely with the Savior and has already been clothed with Christ's perfect righteousness and has begun to experience eternal life in Heaven.
James was a talented guitarist and could lift your spirits with his music. When he brought forth the word of God in his sermons, you knew that he believed in what he preached, and he wanted you to know God as he did. After his first wife, Barbara, passed, James was blessed again by God when he met and married Geraldine. He used to go fishing a lot, but after marrying Geraldine, he told others he had the most incredible catch of his life and never fished again. He not only labored for God but also for his family for many years as a Mining Supply Clerk at Coke Raven Mining Company. He was a dedicated member of the Westside Holiness Church in Raven and a lifetime resident of the area.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Ann Shelton Dye, his daughter, Juanita Jane Cordle, his sisters, Maxie Lowe and Annie Hall, his brothers, Carless Dye, Woody Dye, Boots Dye, Robert Dye, Doug Dye, Morgan Dye, and his granddaughter, Holly Ball.
Those who remain to carry on his spirit are,
