James Edward Elliott Jr.

On March 26, 2025, James E. Elliott (80) of King William passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family after an extended illness. Jimmy leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years Margie Elliott. He was a devoted father of three children, Lisa (Bob) of Glen Allen, VA, Ed (Jeanette) of Fort Worth, TX and Tim (Emily) of Mechanicsville, VA. He had the privilege of being called Papa by nine grandchildren – Daniel, Rachel, Abigail, Nicholas, Patrick, Tanner, Arina, Claire and Alyssa, as well as two great grandchildren Isaac and Beau. Jimmy joins his parents James and Margaret Elliott and a sister Nancy Schwenk in heaven.
As a resident of West Point, VA Jimmy was very active in the community serving as assistant scout master of the local Boy Scouts and as a deacon at First Baptist Church of West Point. For many years he volunteered on the town's fire and rescue squads. Jimmy also was elected and served two terms on the West Point Town Council.
Jimmy enjoyed people and the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, boater and hunter. For many years he grew a garden that would feed a neighborhood. Jimmy and Margie had a passion for travelling and RVing. This led them to many memorable adventures and new friendships. In 2017 they moved to Kennington in Aylett, VA where they quickly established valued relationships with neighbors.
Jimmy and Margie moved to West Point in 1964 from Halifax, VA. Jimmy was employed as a machinist at the paper mill for his entire 40 year career.
In recent years, Jimmy was a devoted member of Colosee Baptist Church where he found community and spiritual strength. His faith was an integral part of his life, guiding him through both personal and professional endeavors.
The family will receive visitors at Vincent Funeral Home in West Point on Saturday March 29 from 10 am to noon. A memorial service will be held the same day at Colosse Baptist Church in King William starting at 2:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Colosse Baptist Church building fund or youth mission trip will be welcomed.
