James Short Obituary

Publish in a newspaper

James Elwood passed from this life on September 28, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on September 21, 1936, James lived a life marked by hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of the world around him.

James spent much of his working as a teamster on the doc in OKC. After retiring, he continued to enjoy traveling, especially the yearly trip he cherished with his beloved wife, Gerdine, to South Texas. It was a journey that brought him joy, comfort, and lasting memories.

A lover of the outdoors, James found peace in nature. Whether he was fishing, trap shooting, or simply enjoying the quiet, he felt most at home under the open sky. He also enjoyed the camaraderie and fun of bowling.

His first love was his Lord and savior. James was a man who lived out his faith in action, not just words.

James is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Geraldine "Gerry" Short, and his grandson Scottie Allen and his wife, Tammy Lynne. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He will be remembered for his love of nature and the roads he traveled, both in life and in spirit.
