James Duane "Jim" Engel, age 76, of Poy Sippi, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
He was born November 25, 1948, in Berlin, WI, the son of Daniel and Helen Brey Engel. Jim was a 1966 graduate of Berlin High School.
Jim was a dairy farmer in Poy Sippi, taking over the family farm with his brother Mark. He had been a milk hauler for many of the local factories, and was a lifelong member of Emmaus Lutheran Church, serving on various boards. Jim was also a former member of the Poy Sippi Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his two sisters, Virginia Andersen (Ron) and Diane Rodencal; one brother, Gordon (Jane) Engel; one sister-in-law, Roxane Engel; and numerous other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, May (Duane) Hannemann; one brother, Mark Engel; two brothers-in-law, Dudley Andersen and Butch Rodencal; and one niece, Beverly Hannemann Tusler.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Poy Sippi. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Brian Weber officiating. Interment will be in Brushville Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barbola-Hempel Funeral Chapel in Poy Sippi. Memorials may be directed to A memorial has been established.
