Mr. James Steven “Steve” Fleming, Sr., 73, of Highway 81 South, Calhoun Falls, SC, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Abbeville Area Medical Center.
Steve was born in Elberton, GA on August 12, 1950, son of the late John Henry Fleming, Jr. and Clydis Ophelia “Boots” Evans Fleming. A jack-of-all trades, Mr. Fleming enjoyed working in the construction and pulpwood industries. His last job was in the maintenance department at Hampton Inn Hotel in Commerce, GA. Steve was Baptist by faith, loved raising chickens, fishing, and above all, his family.
Survivors include his children: Tammy Lynn Fleming (Kenny Smith) of Elberton, GA, Jamie Kristen F. Willoughby (Roy) of Calhoun Falls, SC, Jennifer Kate F. Boggs (Jason) of Elberton, GA, and James Steve Fleming, Jr. of Anderson, SC; grandchildren: William Cameron Smith, Rebecca Joy Fleming, William Joshua Willoughby, and Jacey Ruth Boggs; great-grandson, Rylan Thomas Cooper; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Ruth Todd Fleming; grandson, Steven Thomas Edward Salyers; and brother, Samuel Fleming.
At Steve’s request, no services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the ASPCA, PO Box 96929, Washington, DC 20090-6929.
