Jim was born in Warren, Ohio to Dallas Benjamin and Naomi Cathryn Fowler. He was a graduate of Warren G Harding High School in 1955. Go Panthers! And graduated from Ohio University in 1959. Go Bobcats! #foreverohio He retired as structural design engineer for Boeing/Rockwell and McDonald Douglas working on projects such as the Space Shuttle and other aeronautical programs. With the love of fast cars, in the 50's hot-rodding was a typical past time and he had a particular affinity for Dodge and Plymouth, I'm sure he knew some of Warren's finest more than grandpa would have liked. His love of cars evolved to a classic mustang later in life. Later, he was active in Boy Scout Troup 474 from Overbrook Presbyterian Church with his two sons Jim Jr. and Scott. This was a gateway for his enjoyment of the outdoors which continued many years after through golf with friends and hiking with the Columbus parks and rec winter hike program. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren Sydney (Jim Jr), Katelyn (Scott), Bradley (Scott). He loved spending as much time as possible with his daughter Deborah. Dad passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Suanne Lukehart Fowler and sister Sue M. Fowler Ellis. He is survived by daughter Deborah, son Jim Jr. (Yvonne), son Scott, and brother Clinton (Kathy) Fowler and grandchildren Sydney (Jim Jr), Katelyn (Scott), Bradley (Scott).
A private memorial service will be held at Rutherford-Corbin Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to OVERBROOK PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH Property Fund 4131 NORTH HIGH STREET COLUMBUS, OH 43214
