In Loving Memory of
James Franklin Garvin
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Franklin Garvin, who departed this world on February 2nd 2025 at the age of 40. He was born on April 1st 1984 in Charleston, SC to Woodrow Wilson Garvin and Sherry Belinda Evans Garvin. James was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, friend and a cherished member of the car show community.
James spent his life devoted to cars. He was a member of Animated Attractions Car Club and Team Certified Hurtz bass team. James became paralyzed in 2009 but he never let that stop him or his love for cars. When he could no longer get into his lowrider or mini truck because of his wheelchair he found a new passion in building a bus he called Handislappin. His drive to build Handislappin was even more intensified after going to a bass meet and seeing a child there that was also in a wheelchair who was able, for the first time get to enjoy being inside of a bass vehicle and feel the music because Handislappin had a wheelchair lift. He enjoyed taking the bus to Christmas parades in Hanahan, North Charleston, Goose Creek and Moncks Corner and playing the music for the people to dance too. His passion for cars was only rivaled by his dedication to his family and friends. James believed strongly in making people smile, which was evident in his actions and the way he lived his life.
James is survived by his wife Jennifer Wrixon, his children; Aeriana Wrixon, Matthew Garvin and his four legged son Beaufort of Goose Creek, SC. Father Woodrow Garvin of Summerville, SC; two brothers, PC Garvin (Shonda) of Goose Creek, SC and David Evans; two sisters, Sandra Evans and Louann Ackerman of Summerville, SC. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sherry Evans Garvin; Sister, Mary Marshall; Grandparents, James Evans Sr and Dorothy Bowen Evans; Uncle, Steven Michael Evans; Cousins, Thomas Evans, Steven Evans and Timothy Evans. James was a pillar of strength and love for his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday February 13th 2025 at Harbour Lake Baptist Church at 1056 Red Bank Rd, Goose Creek, SC 29445 at 2PM. Friends and family are invited to celebrate James's life and share memories. One of James's final wishes was that no one come dressed up, to please come in regular clothes and bring the bass!
The family invites everyone following the services for a meal at 302 White Fox Lane Goose Creek, SC 29445.
Family requests that In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Berkeley County Animal Shelter, an organization close to James's heart. James's legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have known him. His kindness, generosity, and spirit will remain in our hearts forever. As we say goodbye, we find comfort in the countless memories and the impact he left on this world.
May James rest in peace, knowing he was truly loved and will never be forgotten.
