James Edward Gilland,77, passed away unexpectedly on December 17, 2022. He was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on July 21, 1945 and was the son of the late Charlie and Gertie Mae Sitton Gilland and was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Rebecka Mathis Gilland.

He retired from Westinghouse with over 39 years of dedicated service. He served in the U.S. Army.

June is survived by his adopted daughter, Denise Lowery and husband Emanuel; brother, Michael Gilland and a sister, Mary Meidling and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 23 at Gaston Memorial Park, Garden of Four Seasons

Spent many a lunch out back of the Westinghouse Charlotte plant listening to Jim tell funny stories, from Vietnam days to the present. He was a great family friend and we enjoyed going to Tony's Ice Cream with him!
