James Graves Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Tucker, Yocum, & Wilson Funeral Home on Jan. 21, 2026.
James William "Jamie" Graves, 63, died on Friday, January 16, 2026, at the UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a native and resident of Georgetown, Kentucky, born on March 8, 1962, to Jean Perry Graves and the late James Oliver Graves. Jamie was retired from Geoscience Consultants, Inc. and Spade Corporation in Georgetown, where he was a project manager in petroleum pipeline construction and repair. Jamie liked the simple life in Scott County. He enjoyed rabbit, squirrel, and dove hunting, playing pool, watching lots of movies, and listening to Classic Rock. In his younger days, he helped raise tobacco, and developed an affinity for motorcycles with lots of chrome, keeping his own trucks detailed and shining, and cruising down Main Street to see his vehicle reflection in the storefront windows. He watched motorsports too, often calling his son to see if they had the Formula 1 or NASCAR race on yet. Jamie loved and supported his children, Chris and Rachel. He attended Chris' many basketball and baseball games and took Rachel all around Kentucky for her pageant competitions. He always considered his children as his greatest accomplishment.

Jamie will be lovingly remembered by his son, Chris (Jessica) Graves of Lexington; his daughter, Rachel Graves of Sadieville; his granddaughter, Hazel; his mother Jean Perry Graves; his brother, Stevie Graves; his sister, Pam Graves; and a nephew Cody Graves. Jamie was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation for Jamie will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Tucker, Yocum & Wilson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Stamping Ground, where Pallbearers will be Chris Graves, Rachel Graves, Stevie Graves, Cody Graves, Lynn Ray, and Vincent Gibson.

Friends and family are encouraged to share their memories and condolences here on Jamie's tribute wall.
