James Michael Grucza Sr.

James Michael Grucza, Sr., age 85, of Harborcreek, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2024. He was born in Erie on April 17, 1939, son of the late Leo and Emma (Chudzinski) Grucza.
James graduated from East High School in 1957. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard Tank Company, 112th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division. James was the Director of Admissions of Sawyer Business School in Buffalo, NY. He was a program coordinator and motivational speaker for business and industry and was an executive recruiter for engineers.
James was a member of the St. Patrick and St. Luke Parish Councils, as well as the Usher's Society, and was active in the Cursillo Movement. He enjoyed fishing and golfing, even achieving a "hole-in-one" for which he was very proud. James was a hard-working father and a good provider, and above all, he loved being with his family.
James is survived by Nancy (Marshall) Bowers, with whom he shared life's joys and sorrows; children: M. Gail Jerioski, Christina Parker (Jeff), James Grucza, Jr. (Deidre), Kathleen Billig, and Daniel Grucza; grandchildren: Aaron, Kelsey, Kasey, Danny, Jeff, Jesse, Joshua, Autumn, Jimmy, Kyle, Rick, and Austin; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Leo Grucza; grandson, Kevin Grucza; and great-grandson, Liam Heintz.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the PA Soldiers' & Sailors' Home, where James had been a resident until the time of his passing.
Friends may call at the Dusckas Funeral & Cremation Services Harborcreek, 5151 Buffalo Rd. (at Hannon Rd.) on Friday, May 3rd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and are further invited to attend a Funeral Mass at St. Luke RC Church on Saturday at 10 AM. A private interment will be held at the PA Soldiers' & Sailors' Home.
