James Halbrooks

Memorial service for James Halbrooks, 82, of Lawton, Oklahoma will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday May 3rd, 2025 at Cameron Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Teel officiating.
Mr. Halbrooks passed away on Friday, April 18th, 2025.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Jim was born on December 2nd, 1942 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma to the late Virgil and Deloris (Kelly) Halbrooks. He worked at Southern Bell Telephone Company for 26 years before retiring. James met Vanda Halbrooks at Immanuel Baptist Church and they married on May 25th, 1962. They had two sons and raised them in Lawton. James loved anything sports related. He loved coaching and going to ball games with his sons and he also enjoyed fishing. He attended many country and western concerts and he and Vanda often liked going to estate sales. He supported Cameron University where he was an Alumni. He also taught Sunday School for many years.
He is survived by his sons and spouses, Timmy and Dana Halbrooks, and Jimmy Halbrooks and fiance, Lori Wells; his grandchildren, Teagan and Hunter Newton, Sidney and Bj Larimore, Matt and Lacey Farris, Jenny and Jason Richter, Jodi & Clayton Krouse, Jordan and Jen Halbrooks, John and Kaitlynn Halbrooks, Josh and Maci McNeil, Dustin and Kayla Lohr, and Sara Wells-Bender; his great grandchildren, Stetson, Ridge, Graycie, Wyatt, Kylee Cole, Karleigh, Hudson, Raven Jake, Allie, Maverick and Jolie McNeil, Layton, Creed, and Judas Morris; along with numerous loving friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Vanda Halbrooks; and his sister, Elizabeth Chevalley. To send flowers to the family of James, please visit our floral store.
