James "Jim" H. Hansen II passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Born on June 18, 1939, in Two Harbors, MN, Jim was the son of James and Faye (Pearson) Hansen, Sr.

Jim had a zest for life and laughter. He cherished time spent with his wife Sheila of 64 years, and his loved ones, valuing family above all. He found joy in hunting, fishing, and waterskiing, and pursued hobbies like woodworking, music, and creating stained-glass projects for family and friends. Jim completed his education at Superior Central High and Dunwoody Technical College. He had a fulfilling career, serving as Maintenance Supervisor at General Mills and Medtronic, and enjoying a 24-year tenure at WLSSD before retiring.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sheila; sons, James (Brenda) Hansen III of Andover, MN, and Jerry (Jodi) Hansen of Superior; grandchildren, James (Makayla) Ferraro, Ellen (Shaun) Hansen, Sam (Cathy) Hansen, and Charlie Hansen; brothers, Mike (Diane) Swanoski of Pike Lake, and Paul (Bonnie) Swanoski of Superior; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Collins of Duluth, GA; along with many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Judy Verkeyn, and brother-in-law James Collins.

A Celebration of Jim's Life will be announced and held in the Spring of 2026.

The family extends their gratitude to Dr. Eric Kirschner for the excellent care provided to Jim over the years, and to the Aspirus St. Luke's Hospice program for their compassionate support.

If desired, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
