James Kenneth Harvill, born on February 26, 1939, in Tull, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2025. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication, both in his career and in his personal life.
James devoted 37 years of his professional life to Alcoa, where he was recognized for his commitment and excellence. A proud member of the Class of '57, he graduated from Benton High School, carrying the values and friendships formed there throughout his life. James remained actively engaged in his community and was a cherished member of East Union Baptist Church, where he contributed positively to the lives of many.
Outside of work, James found joy in activities that fostered connection and camaraderie. He was an avid member of the Ole Earl Hunting Club, where many cherished memories were made. Additionally, he took pride in coaching the future Panther's Cowboys, guiding young athletes with enthusiasm and passion.
James's proudest accomplishments extended beyond his professional and recreational pursuits. He played a key role in starting the divorce care program at Holland Chapel, providing support to those navigating difficult times in their lives. His compassion and willingness to help others left an indelible mark on his community.
He leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward his legacy. James is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Karen Harvill; his sons, Kelly Harvill and wife Paula, and James Harvill II and wife Sherri; and his granddaughters, Jesi Harvill and Makerzi Burton, and her husband Patrick. He is also survived by his sister, Judy Pritchard and her husband Greg, and sister-in-law Joy Griffin. A host of family and friends will always remember and miss James, who touched many lives with his kindness and spirit.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Maxine and Kelley Harvill, and his sister, Wanda Harvill. His memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00 PM, Monday, February 24 followed by memorial service at 3:00 PM at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas.
