HAUCK, James "Jim" – of Birch Run, age 90, died Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his residence surrounded by the love of his family. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. Jim was born June 1, 1932, in Birch Run, to the late Martin and Louise (Ferguson) Hauck. He attended Birch Run High School where he received his high school diploma and Central Michigan University where he received his bachelor's degree in education. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1951 until 1954. On July 28, 1968, Jim married the love of his life and best friend, Arlene Tackebury, and together they shared 54 years of marriage. Prior to his retirement in 1991, Jim was a teacher at Birch Run Area Schools for 31 years and he was the former Taymouth Township Supervisor for several years. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Birch Run, the Birch Run Moose Lodge 2426, and the Clio Eagles 3609. Jim loved to travel with his wife. They would often visit their cottage in Hillman, Michigan, and during the winter months, Jim and Arlene would travel to Arizona. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed going fishing and hunting. He was an avid golfer and was in many leagues over the years. Though he attended Central Michigan, Jim was a big University of Michigan fan and would represent them proudly. Above all, Jim was a wonderful husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed.
Jim is forever loved by his wife, Arlene Hauck; Children: William "Bill" (Connie) Tackebury, Joan Hudak, and Shelby (Mat) Shea; 13 Grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; Brother, Kenneth (Sharon) Hauck; In-laws: Bernard (Sandy) DeSander and Barbara DeSander; Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends.
