James Hayden Obituary
James "Lancy" Hayden, 87, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN. He was born September 1, 1938 in Corydon, IN, the son of Marvin and Mattie Reising Hayden. He retired in 1996 as a field engineer for IBM in Louisville, KY and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Elizabeth "Betty" Hayden, son, Gary Hayden, brothers, David and Larry Hayden. He is survived by his son Greg Hayden (Leann) of Corydon, IN; brother, Delbert Hayden (Christina); grandchildren, Lauren Merkley (Blake), Spencer Hayden, Brock Hayden (Lina), Brooke Hayden (Sam), Ezra Hayden and Rheagan Wiles; a great granddaughter, June Elizabeth Merkley; sisters-in-law, Marlene Hayden, Betty Bennett and Charlotte Bennett and brother-in-law Mike Bennett (Ann), many nieces and nephews and his friend and companion Agnes Simms. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Bradford, IN. Father Aaron Pfaff will be the celebrant. Visitation will be from 3 PM to 8 PM Friday, December 12, 2025 at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN. and from 9 AM until the mass time at 10 AM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at the church. The family suggests memorial gifts made to either St. Michael's Catholic Church at 11400 Farmer's Lane, Greenville, IN 47124 or to St. Joseph Catholic School at 312 E. High St., Corydon, IN. There will be a Rosary service at 7:30 PM at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon, IN.
