James (Jimmy) Hayen passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2025 at the age of 59.

Jimmy was a kind hearted, generous soul. He was a devoted son, brother and cherished the role of "uncle". His bond with his great nephew, Nicholas was especially close. The two shared many wonderful times camping and fishing. Jimmy enjoyed watching wrestling and cheering on his favorite wrestlers.

Jimmy faced some personal struggles and finding purpose after the loss of his dad as he was his primary caretaker. Jimmy helped him remain at home for as long as possible before his health deteriorated and forced him to a nursing home but he visited dad every day. Jimmy also struggled with the tragic loss of his brother. However, these struggles did not define the full measure of who he was. At his core, Jimmy was a man who loved deeply, cared for his family, and found joy in the simple things with the people he loved.

Jimmy is survived by sisters, Janice and Jane; nephews, Jeremey (wife, Tiffany and son, Mason), Christopher (wife, Sarah and kids, Porter and Kenastyn), and Colter; niece, Madison; great-nephew, Nicholas and his special dogs, Molly and Ruby, and cat, Tiger.

There will be a graveside burial at Mt. Calvary Cemetery near Cogswell, ND on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. Memories may be shared and viewed here.
