James Jay Isom, 63, of Smithville, Texas, passed away on August 19, 2025, in Cuero, Texas. He was born on September 26, 1961, in Iwakuni, Japan, to James Isom, a U.S. Navy Veteran, and Wanda Ruth (Denton) Isom.

Jay is survived by his four beloved children-John, Krystal, Christian, and Marissa-along with seven grandchildren, and his brothers, John Pike and Loyd Chapman. He was welcomed into eternal peace by his parents and his brothers, Ronnie Pike and Anthony "Tony" Pike, who preceded him in death.

Known to most simply as Jay, he was a talented diesel mechanic, always dependable and willing to help anyone in need. Beyond his work, Jay was a man of deep faith and spirituality, who cherished his family and carried his love for them throughout his life.

"Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me" (Psalm 50:15)

Yesterday

My deepest condolences to the family. Jaybird was a very talented mechanic as he was helping me restore my Harley. He had done many projects for my father over the years and this is how I got to know Jaybird as my father also helped Jaybird when needed. You will be missed my friend.
