John Franklin Jameson, 63, of Seabrook, Texas, passed away peacefully of natural causes at his second home in Laramie, Wyoming on the morning of Monday, July 28, 2025.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Pryor Cemetery Chapel in Stuart, Oklahoma. Arrangements have been entrusted to Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home, McAlester, Oklahoma.

John was born on Saturday, June 30, 1962, in McAlester, Oklahoma. Known affectionately as "Jay" to his family and close friends, he was a cherished husband, brother, uncle, and friend as well as a proud, enrolled member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He spent his early years growing up in McAlester where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. In 1975, the family moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma where he later graduated from Stillwater High School in 1980.

After earning an Associate of Applied Science in Forestry from Eastern Oklahoma State College, Wilburton, Oklahoma in 1982, John took a scenic route through life with stops in Missouri, Kansas, and Texas-working in chemical sales and pest control and on the General Motors automobile line. In 1992, he returned to Stillwater to earn a Bachelor of Science in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology from Oklahoma State University (OSU) in 1994.

His summer work during college-laboring on pipelines for Colorado Gas Compression-turned out to be the inspiration for his global safety management career. Over the decades, John's work took him from the oil fields of Oman to the deep waters off Nigeria, the industrial ports of Trinidad to the rugged terrain of north-central Wyoming. Whether it was an oil and gas or renewable energy project, John was there, remaining calm under pressure while overseeing all things safety and environmental. He did his best to keep hundreds of workers safe and was always willing to train the new guy.

John married the love of his life and loyal travel companion, Aracelly "Marina" (née Diaz Moreno) on February 14, 2005, in Grand Lake, Oklahoma.

John was an expert at the grill and loved making barbeque ribs and brisket for family, friends, and colleagues, especially during football season, his favorite time of the year. If you worked with him, you trusted him. If you ate with him, you asked for seconds. He was a devoted fan of Houston Texans and OSU football, enjoyed spending time at Grand Lake, and watching action-packed episodes of Cops.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmie Wayne and Carolyn June Jameson.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Marina Jameson and his five siblings: Vicki Jameson, Dennis Jameson, Kimberly Young, Trudy Simank, and Pamela Silverthorn as well as extended family including nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.

He will be missed beyond words by his family, friends, and colleagues across the globe whose lives he touched with his kindness and humor.
