James Louis Jasmin Jr. was born on January 3, 1958, in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was educated in the Orleans Parish School System and proudly graduated from Walter L. Cohn Senior High School.
James served in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. He received an army commendation medal, a marksman badge, an army service ribbon, and overseas service ribbon. He graduated and received a bachelor's degree in business, and also went to Southern University of Shreveport to receive a trade as a surgical tech. He worked at the Public Grain Elevator as a Grain Inspector, an Asst. Manager at a bank in Chicago, Illinois, a Real Estate agent, a Club Owner, a truck driver delivering trailers, Grey Hound Bus Driver, and lastly a Surgical Technician.
James was known for being well dressed, kind hearted, well mannered, book smarts, and a joyful spirit. He loved watching Action and Sci-Fi movies. He shared a special bond with his grandson Treyvon talking about sports and school activities.
James passed away September 17, 2025. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his mother and father Wadena & James L. Jasmin Sr., his step mother Wilhelmina Jasmin, and his two brothers Christopher and Timothy Jasmin.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving daughter, JeNean Sanders; grandson Treyvon Horton, his brother Raymond Jasmin; his sisters Katrina & Sabrina Jasmin, and his two cousins that were like a brother and a sister Patrick McManus & Andrea Ware along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
A Military Service will be held Friday October 10th, 2025 at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 34888 Grantham College Dr, Slidell, LA 70460 for 11:00 am. Repast will follow at 2514 Washington Ave. New Orleans, La. 70113 from 12:30-3:30.
