James “Jim’ Robert Long, Sr., age 81, of Bessemer City passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born in Jackson County, NC on July 10, 1942, to the late Gus T Long and Betty Jane Sutton Long. During his career, Jim worked as a Tech Service Rep. He is preceded in death by his wife Sherry Lee Haskin Long; his parents, Gus T Long and Betty Jane Sutton Long; his sisters, Inie Wright, Lola Bryson, Dorothy Perry, Leny Ellis, Louise Holland; his brothers, William Long, Henry C Long, Joseph Long, Franklin D Long
Those left to cherish his memory include his children James R. Long, Jr.; Sharon Burton (Beauford); Billy “Charles” Roland; and Tracy Conner; grandchildren James Robert Long, III, Sierra Burkett, and Courtney Burkett; great-grandchild Caleb Long; special niece Jeanette Long; along with a numerous number of nieces and nephews.
