James Jim” Ransom Pullen, 90, of Supply went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, October 5, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family.
Jim was born in Logan, West Virginia on July 3, 1935, son to the late Kenneth Joseph Pullen and Jessie Marie Thompson Pullen. Jim grew up in the hills of West Virginia, his father was a coal miner and on Sunday, would carry Jim into the mines to make sure everything was good for work on Monday. Jim would say, when your father would sit you down and tell you to stay there and that light would fade away, now that was dark. But after some time, I would see that light coming back in the distance and I knew dad was coming back to get me.
As a boy, Jim would not leave the house in the mornings without 2 sticks of Pepperoni in his back pocket and that would last him all day. He would go on to serve four years in the National Guard and married Mary Lou Hundley in 1955. They would eventually make their home in Akron, Ohio. Jim worked two jobs a day as a Welder and Welding Instructor for years while Mary Lou stayed at home with their four boys. After years of working, they retired and moved to Supply, NC to be near the beach.
Jim was the person in the community who could do anything and was always helping others. His love for Mary Lou was unmeasured and everyone knew that she was the love of his life. They are members of Brunswick Island Baptist Church where Jim worked for years keeping the church clean or whatever needed to be done as he could fix anything. At 12:22 PM Sunday, Jim saw that light again, but this time it was his Heavenly Father coming to take him home. Go rest with the father, we’ve got it from here. Jim will be greatly missed by family and friends, but soon, we will see him again.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by sons Kenny Pullen and Rick (Collette) Pullen, and a great grandson, Clint.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Mary Lou Pullen of the home; sons, Tim (Lori) Pullen of Supply and Randy (Janet) Pullen of Ohio; daughter-in-law, Sharon Pullen of Ohio; 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of extended family members and friends.
A service to Celebrate Jims life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Brunswick Island Baptist Church, 1672 Mt. Pisgah Road, SW, Supply, NC 28462 with Pastor Keith McKinney officiating.
