James (Jimmy) Darrell Baker, age 67, passed peacefully at home on May 3, 2024, after a tormenting struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was born to the late Myrtie Baker and Darrell Baker. He is preceded in death by his parents and much-loved nephew Ross Wilcox. He is survived by his life partner and wife, Sherry Buckley Baker, and his son William James Baker. Also survived by his sisters, Linda (John) Wilcox and Lana Baker (Michael Gruber), nephew, Ryan (Sarah) Wilcox, and nieces Mara Gruber (Nathan Reese) and Irene Gruber; great nephews Andrew and Colin Wilcox and great nieces Elise Wilcox, Margaux and Violet Reese. He is also survived by many cousins. He was an uncle and friend to Sherry’s Godchildren, Jerry and Kelly Staley. Jimmy is also survived by many great friends with whom he loved spending time, and was loved by all who knew him. Jimmy graduated from Whetstone High School and remained friends with many of his classmates. He was an avid golfer, scoring a Hole in One on August 4, 2015. He loved boating and houseboat trips at Dale Hollow Lake, fishing, and family gatherings. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor bringing laughter and happiness everywhere he went. He was a generous man; always wanting to help others. Jimmy was a Grill Master and always cooked for houseboat trips and vacations. He also loved watching sports, and was an enthusiastic supporter of all OSU Buckeye sports, the Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians. He was an automobile technician and friends and relatives frequently relied on him to diagnose and fix their vehicle issues. The family will greet friends and relatives on May 17, 2024 from 10:00am – 12:00pm at All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 N High St, Worthington, OH. A Memorial Service will follow, beginning at 12:00pm. Light refreshments will be served following the service. Jimmy’s cremains will be interred with his parents at Glen Rest Memorial Gardens in a private ceremony at a later date. Shaw Davis Funeral Home is handling his final arrangements.
