James A. Johns, 76, of Pittsburg, passed away at 4:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born April 2, 1946 at Pittsburg, the son of Henry 'Hank' and Nannie Bell (Brown) Johns. He was known by friends as James, Jim, and J.J.
Mr. Johns worked for McNally's Manufacturing for 25 years, Envision for 9 years and Pitt Plastics for 2 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from January 1964 until March 1967.
On May 14, 2005, he was united in marriage to Brenda in Pittsburg.
Jim was a founder of the original Crawford County Saddle Club. He was also a member of the Rolling Nostalgia Car Club and the American Legion Post#182 of Arma. He had a great love for old fast cars.
In addition to his wife Brenda Johns of the home, he is survived by his children, Deborah (Jay) Russell of Arcadia, Kansas; Dale (Kathleen) Hunkele of Columbus, Georgia; Charley (Tammy) Reef of Wichita, Kansas; Sabrina (Steve) Marbut of Webb City, Missouri; Nick (Brittany) Rookstool of Riverton, Kansas; three grandchildren, Jayce Milburn, Tyler Marbut, and Kaitlyn Rookstool; siblings, Dorothy Jacks, Vicky Dibble, Debbie (Everett) Beasley, and Nancy Alexander; life-long best friend, John (Joyce) Bates.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, 3 sisters, and a granddaughter.
Services will be held at a later date. The family suggests memorials be given to the Care to Share Cancer Support Group. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, Ks 66762. Online condolences may be left at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
