James is survived by his wife, Vida Johnson; son, Peter LaVerne Johnson; and by his niece, Janice Pinkerman.
A Memorial Service, with Military Honors, will be held for James on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 11:00 am at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning, NY 14830.

We had the pleasure of going up to our vacation spot and seeing him every year. Him and my dad were best friends. My condolences to his wife and family anyone who knew him. He was such a light a diehard nascar fan and will be deeply missed
