KERNERSVILLE – James Orville Jones, 68, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Kernersville Medical Center.

He was born February 7, 1957, in Montgomery, Alabama, and was the son of the late Jack Orville and Jeannine "Jean" Yates Jones. He graduated from Diggs School in Winston-Salem, worked for many years at Gordy's Restaurant in High Point and was of the Baptist faith. James was a cowboy at heart and loved horses and westerns and enjoyed to travel, especially to the mountains, and was waiting for his next plane ride. He was always smiling and loved people, never meeting a stranger and talking to everyone. He holds a special place in the hearts of his family as a loving son, brother, and uncle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, Robert Seth Cannada.

James is survived by his sister, Linda Jones Cannada and husband, Wayne; three nieces and nephews, Stephanie Melton, Paul Jackson and wife, Mandi, and Jennifer Wagoner and husband, Kenny, all of Kernersville; and ten great-nieces and great-nephews, Austin Melton, Lauren Melton, Isabella Mills, Avery Jackson, Mackenzie Jackson, Clinton Wagoner, Carter Wagoner, Morgan Wagoner, Jaidyn Pond and Watson Cannada.

Funeral service celebrating James's life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, October 10, 2025, in the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service with Pastor Wayne Cannada, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Winston-Salem.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point.

Condolences may be sent to the family online on James's tribute page at www.cumbyfuneral.com.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor James's loving spirit by making a kind gesture to a stranger and pass on his love for people and helping others.
