Mary Theresa Dover Davis, 81, passed away peacefully at her residence in High Point, NC on October 6, 2025.

Mary was born on March 8, 1944, in Pratt, Kansas, to the late Raymond H. Dover, Jr. and Maxine McDonald Dover. Mary's life was marked by devotion to her loved ones, resilience, enduring kindness, and a clever sense humor that kept us all laughing.

Mary spent her life in High Point. She graduated from High Point Central HS and High Point College. After college she returned to Central to begin her teaching career which spanned over 40 years. She taught Business, including typing skills, at Guilford County high schools. She also taught at Allen Jay and finished her career after many years at Southern Guilford. Through her career she touched the lives of numerous students, many of whom would contact her, thanking her for her encouragement and her belief in them.

After retirement from teaching, Mary worked for the Mental Health Associates of the Triad. She filled in her free time with frequent beach trips with her retired teacher friends, and an annual epic sisters trip.

She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Virginia Davis, and her parents. Mary is survived by her daughter, Sara Weeks and husband Corbin of Trinity, NC, and her son, Jeffrey Davis of Raleigh, NC. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Amber Hughes, Holly Hughes, Ashley Hughes Saunders, Natalie Davis, Josh Edmonds, Justin Edmonds, and Landon Weeks. Mary was also blessed with four great-grandchildren who brought her much joy in her later years.

She is also survived by her sisters, Martha Dover Stewart of High Point, NC and Margie Dover of Tulsa, OK, and her nephew, Chris Stewart. The family would especially like to recognize the many cherished friendships Mary formed at Solista of High Point, where she was a beloved part of the community.

Mary's warmth, wit, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A reception for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 2 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Parrish Hall, 108 W. Farriss Avenue, High Point, North Carolina. The family invites friends and loved ones to attend and share in remembrance of a life well-lived. A private family interment will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Mary's memory to Mental Health Associates of the Triad, 910 Mill Ave., High Point, NC 27260, or a charity of your choice.
